Why Did My Order Ship in Multiple Packages?

Why Did My Order Ship in Multiple Packages?

If you ordered multiple shocks, struts, or suspension parts and received separate tracking numbers — or if only part of your order has arrived so far — don't worry. This is normal. Here's why it happens and what to expect.

Common Reasons for Split Shipments

There are a few reasons why your order might ship in more than one package:

  • Items ship from different locations. Shockwarehouse works with a network of manufacturer warehouses and distribution centers. If the parts in your order are stocked at different facilities, each location ships its items separately.
  • Some items are drop-shipped by the manufacturer. Certain products — especially specialty items or parts with limited availability — ship directly from the manufacturer's warehouse rather than from Shockwarehouse's facility. These shipments have their own tracking numbers.
  • Package size or weight limits. If your order includes several heavy items like a full set of shocks plus struts, they may be split into separate boxes for safe handling during transit.

How to Track Multiple Shipments

When your order ships in multiple packages, you'll receive a separate tracking number for each shipment. Check your email for tracking notifications — you may receive them at different times as each package is prepared and picked up by FedEx.

Tip: If you've received one tracking number but are expecting more items, give it an extra business day. The second (or third) tracking number often follows shortly after the first.

What If Only Part of My Order Has Arrived?

If you've received some of your items but not all of them:

  1. Check your email for additional tracking numbers. You may have a second shipment already on the way with its own tracking information.
  2. Compare what you received against your order confirmation email to identify which items are still in transit.
  3. Wait one to two additional business days. Split shipments from different locations often arrive a day or two apart.
  4. Contact us if something seems off. If you haven't received all your items and there's no additional tracking info after a few days, reach out to our customer service team at customerservice@shockwarehouse.com with your order number and we'll track it down.

Can I Request That Everything Ships Together?

Because items may be sourced from different warehouses or manufacturers, we cannot always guarantee that an entire order will arrive in a single package. However, most orders that ship from the same location are combined into one shipment whenever possible.

If having all items arrive at the same time is critical — for example, if you have a scheduled installation appointment — place your order early and allow a few extra days for all packages to arrive before your appointment date.

Split Shipment vs. Missing Item

It's important to know the difference:

  • Split shipment: You received some items and have (or will receive) a separate tracking number for the remaining items. This is normal — just wait for the additional package to arrive.
  • Missing item: All tracking numbers show as delivered, but you're still missing something from your order. In this case, contact us right away so we can investigate.
